We have taken back our township:
For over thirty years Republicans ruled the roost. They held all five positions on the Board Of Commissioners. That's because Upper Gwynedd has a winner take all election process. So inspite of Upper Gwynedd being composed of over 40% democratic voters, there was no representation on the Board Of Commissioners.
But all of that changed in 2017 when two democrats were elected to the board. Liz McNaney and Denise Hull turned things around and joined the board of Commissioners and began shaking things up and modernizing a stagnant board.

Then on November 5th 2019 the election changed everything and three more democrats were elected to the Upper Gwynedd Board of Commissioners. Katherine Carter, Martha Simelaro and Ruth Damsker were elected. This made for some significant firsts:
- First Democratic Majority Board
- First All Female Board
- First All Democratic Board
- First African American on The Board
We wish the board well and great success in the years ahead and we thank the outgoing board for their years of service.

I’m grateful to the members of the North Wales and Upper Gwynedd Democratic committees. They listen to constituents, work hard to get everyone out to vote, and ensure that citizens are familiar with the candidates running for office at every level of government. They work hard to make sure that we all understand the vital importance of making our voices heard and they spread the message of our shared democratic values. My sincere thanks for their dedication to democracy! . . - Liz Hanbidge - State Representative 61st Legislative District
